Mai-Juni Newsletter / May-June update

Joel ist wieder zurueck aus Denver. Er hat die Zeit dort sehr genossen, vor allem dass er endlich mal wieder seine ganze Familie gesehen hat. Die Hochzeit seiner Schwester Kristin & Dave war wundervoll. Nicole war nicht persoenlich dabei, aber hatte die Moeglichkeit sich die Hochzeit im Nachhinein auf DVD anzugucken und auch sie war sehr geruehrt von der feierlichen Hochzeit.

In der Zeit wo Joel in Denver war, haben sich Andrew & Nicole nicht gelangweilt. Sie haben bei einem 5km Lauf mit anschliessendem Kinderlauf (Andrew's erster Lauf) mitgemacht, waren auf einer Art Kirmes auf dem Base, sind mit Freunden aus der Spielgruppe zu einem Irisgarten & "Kurihama Blumenfelder" gegangen und noch vieles mehr. Nicole hat bei einem Squashturnier mitgemacht und als Team (sie sind fuer das Krankenhaus angetreten) haben sie den ersten Platz belegt.

Mitte Juni sind wir Drei zu dem Anpanman Museum in Yokohama gegangen, denn Andrew ist ein totaler Fan und da konnten wir das Museum nicht auslassen. Das Museum ist ein reiner Spielplatz & nicht wirklich ein Museum, was Andrew natuerlich gut gefallen hat.

Wir haben mal wieder eine Tour vom Base mitgemacht: "Fuji Safari Park".
Bis auf das Fuettern der Baeren, Loewen & Kamele (aus einem Bus heraus) hat Andrew der Park mit all'den Tieren sehr gefallen.

Am 22.Juni ist das Oma Inge angekommen. Andrew & Oma Inge waren sich von Anfang an nicht fremd. Was wir alles machen kommt dann im naechsten "update".

Joel is back from his trip to Colorado. It was really a great visit and he had a great time. Most importantly he was able to finally visit with his family again. Kristin & Dave's wedding was fabulous. Even though Nicole couldn't be there in person, she was at least able to see the early release version of the DVD. She was really impressed with the festive atmosphere of the wedding.

While Joel was gone, there wasn't a dull moment for Nicole & Andrew back in Japan. They ran a 5 km race with a jogging stroller and there was even a little toddler sprint at the end for Andrew to stretch his legs. It was his first race. There was also a little fair to enjoy as well. After that, they went with some friends from the playgroup to the Yokosuka Iris Garden as well as the Kurihama Flower Fields, and much more. Nicole also entered a base racquetball tournament played for the hospital team. The hospital team ended up winning first place.

In mid June we all went to Yokohama to see the Anpanman Museum (Anpanman is a popular Japanese cartoon character). Andrew is a fan, so we couldn't skip this one. Unfortunately for the adults, the museum is pretty much just a play area with every Anpanman themed toy ever imagined, but Andrew still found it fun. We also took a base-run tour to: "Fuji Safari Park". We really liked it. Aside from feeding the bears, lions, and camels (from a bus with metal screens) Andrew really enjoyed it. The feeding got him a little too close for comfort. He loved everything else and we loved watching him run around
with excitement.

On June 22nd Andrew's Oma arrived from Germany. They both picked up right where they left off, and were once again the best of friends. We will tell you more about what we all did with Oma Inge in the next update.
